Dr. Israel "Yisroel" Benporat is a Fellow at Yeshiva University's Center for Israel Studies, a Senior Associate at the Academic Engagement Network (AEN), and a member of the inaugural cohort of the Tikvah Academic Fellowship. Previously, he served as a lecturer at Yeshiva University in the Department of History and in the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought. He also taught history at City College and Queens College, and he served as Managing Editor of Lehrhaus. He holds a PhD in history from CUNY Graduate Center, and he graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva University.

He has published peer-reviewed articles in Early American Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal, in Journal of Early American History, in Journal of the Bible and Its Reception, and in Tradition: A Journal of Orthodox Jewish Thought. His writing has also appeared in Journal of Religious History, Journal of the American Revolution, RealClear History, Providence, EAS Miscellany, Lehrhaus, Algemeiner, eJewishPhilanthropy, TraditionOnline, Jewish Journal, and Torah Musings. He has been featured by the Center for Hebraic Thought, the Jack Miller Center, Mosaic Magazine, 18Forty, and other venues.
